San Pedro de Atacama 5 days TREKK

DAY 1 Calama - San Pedro de Atacama - Moon Valley

Reception at Calama airport and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. In the afternoon we hike in the moonvalley to observe the sunset. Overnight at hotel in San Pedro.

DAY 2 Quebrada del Diablo & PM Hike Guatin to the hotsprings of Puritama

In the morning we explore the canyon "Quebrada del diablo" by mountain bike (foot). We set off from San Pedro by bike and ride along the San Pedro river to Pukara de Quitor (Fortress of the Inca) and Catarpe (administration centre of the Inca) to reach the canyon The trail in the canyon slopes slightly downward which gives you plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. In the afternoon we make a two hr hike from Guatin to the beautiful hotsprings at Puritama. Overnight San Pedro de Atacama.

DAY 3 Full Day Hike Machuca - Rio Grande

Early in the morning we depart and drive to the village of Machuca on 3.400m. Three persons are still living at this former rest place for the ancient llama caravans that traveled the "Inca Highway". It is a breathtaking place in the middle of the highland. We start our trek here - almost during the whole day downhill - following the Peñaliri River to reach finally Rio Grande. A small village with only fifty inhabitants.You will be fascinated by the changing landscape and panorama views. Overnight in San Pedro, (B, BL).

DAY 4 Salar de Atacama

The morning is free at leisure. In the afternoon we show you the sunset in the Saltflats of the Atacama Desert, visiting the villages of Toconao on the way (B).

DAY 5 El Tatio - Calama

Early departure (about 0400 am) to visit the geothermal geysers of El Tatio.We drive towards the High Andes, across the High Plateau, crowned by the superb Putama Volcano, ascending to the famous Tatio Geysers a t4.300m amid soaring peaks. After breakfast a hike follows to observe fumaroles, small geysers and multicolored craters.On the way back to the airport of Calama you will visit the typical villages of Caspana, Chiu Chiu (the eldest church in Chile) and Lasana with its Pukara. End of services at the airport of Calama, (B, BL).
