Day1 Arica- Putre

Morning reception(around 11AM) in Arica Airport. Take a short touring drive in the city and stop by a sea-shore restaurant to enjoy a hearty get-together lunch consisting of Chilean best sea food. Around 2PM start gaining altitude while driving up to the township of Putre (140 km, 3.500m). On the road, we will see outstanding Andean flora such as the Yareta and the Candelabrum Cactus and amazing pre-historical drawings. Later on (km 97), we reach the fortress of Copaquilla built by the ancient Aymaras on the XII century. Arrive in the small township of Putre (sadness) which was founded by the spaniards conquerors on XVI century as an important trade point between Arica and Potosí. Spend the rest of the evening walking the town. Overnight in a local Hostería (L,D);

Day 2 Putre- Base Camp(4.500m)

Leave Putre in the morning and drive(55km, 4.400m) into the Lauca Onwards to the Chungará Lake we encounter the ritual town of Parinacota, the center for the colorful religious fetes of the Aymará Indian sheperds in the region. Overnight at Base Camp. (B,L-,D)

Day 3 Base Camp(4.500)

Acclimatization trekking around Base Camp

Day 4 Base Camp-Camp1 (5.500m)

At this point we can observe the marvelous of nature of the Chilean Andes. We camp at 5.500m.

Day 5,6 Camp1-Summit- Base Camp (6.330m)

From this point we hike over the ice and reach the summit to be back at camp 1;

Day 7 Base Camp- Arica- Santiago

Start descending from the Altiplano plateau reaching sea level at the city of Arica. Reach the airport on time to board the late flight to Santiago.
